Pentaprism, also known as pentagonal prism, pentagonal beam splitter prism, pentaprism is a kind of optical reflection prism, pentaprism is an optical
prism with five reflective surfaces, which can deflect the incident light by 90°. The incoming light is reflected twice inside the prism, changing the direction by 90°, which not only does not invert, but also does not change the offhand nature of the image, whereas an ordinary right-angle prism will invert the image and change the offhand nature. Pentagonal prisms are extremely useful in calibrating systems, as they can be very accurately normalized to right angles, and separately to angles of incidence. Rays enter on one side, reflect twice at 270 degrees inside the
prism and exit on the adjacent side.
